Palembang City in October 2016 experienced deflation of -0.08 percent while Lubuk Linggau City experienced inflation of 0.32 percent

The cumulative inflation rate of 2016 is 2.41 percent. While the inflation rate "year on year" (October 2016 to October 2015) is 4.27 percent. Palembang City in October 2016 based on the expenditure group, showed that 2 (two) groups experienced a decrease in the price index, ie foodstuff category (-1.17 percent); and clothing group (-0.01 percent). While 5 (five) expenditure groups experienced an increase in price index, namely health group; and the education, recreation and sports group respectively by 0.02 percent; transportation, communication & financial services group by 0.11 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group by 0.40 percent; finished food, beverage, cigarette & tobacco group by 0.47 percent.
Commodities that experience price decline that causes deflation in Palembang City include: onion, chicken meat, eggs, potatoes and cooking oil. While commodities that experienced price increases include: electricity tariffs, filter clove cigarettes, red peppers, apples, vegetable tomatoes, dencis fish and air transport.
