Abstract

The city of Palembang in September 2015 experienced a deflation of -0.38 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2015 to September is 1.03 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" (September 2015 to September 2014) is 6.84 percent.

The city of Palembang in September 2015 based on expenditure groups, showed that 2 (two) groups experienced a decline in the price index, namely the transportation, communication & financial services group by -1.99 percent and the foodstuffs group at -1.49 percent. While 5 (five) groups experienced an increase in the price index, namely the education, recreation and sports group by 1.28 percent; health group at 1.11 percent, clothing group by 1.02 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group by 0.69 percent; and the housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group by 0.15 percent.

Commodities which have experienced a decline in prices with the highest share of deflation in Palembang City include air transport, broiler meat, red chili, shallots and cooking oil. While commodities experiencing price increases with the highest share of inflation included rice, tutoring, prescription drugs, tilapia, and fried chicken.

          Lubuk Linggau City in September 2015 experienced a deflation of -0.16 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2015 to September was 2.37 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" (September 2015 to September 2014) was 8.33 percent.

Based on inflation calculation in Palembang city and Lubuk Linggau city, in September 2015 South Sumatra Province experienced a deflation of -0.36 percent, the cumulative inflation rate up to September 2015 was 1.17 percent and the inflation rate was "year on year" (September 2015 to September 2014) was 6.99 percent.

Commodities that have decreased in price which caused deflation in Lubuk Linggau City in September 2015 included: red chili, chicken meat, household fuel, wet shrimp and cayenne pepper. While commodities experiencing price increases with the highest share of inflation included cassava leaves, rice, clove cigarettes, vegetable tomatoes and cellular telephones.
