Abstract
The South Sumatra Province Farmers Exchange Rate (NTP) in August 2020
was recorded at 94.17 or an increase of 2.67 percent over the previous
month's NTP. The increase in NTP was influenced by the Price Index
Received by Farmers (It) which increased by an average of 2.38 percent,
while the average Index Paid by Farmers (Ib) decreased by 0.29 percent.

The increase in NTP in August 2020 was influenced by the increase in
NTP in the plantation subsector, which rose by 4.11 percent. Meanwhile,
the other sub-sectors experienced a decrease, respectively: Food crops
0.11 percent, Horticulture 1.16 percent, Animal Husbandry 1.95 percent,
Fisheries 0.55 percent, Capture Fisheries 0.87 percent, and Cultivation
Fisheries 0.10 percent.
• In August 2020, in South Sumatra, there
was rural deflation of 0.39 percent due to a decrease in the average
index price in the Food, Beverage and Tobacco expenditure group, which
fell by 0.83 percent. While the groups that experienced an increase
were: Clothing and Footwear 0.24 percent, Housing, Water, Electricity
and Household Fuels 0.33 percent, Equipment, Equipment and Household
Routine Maintenance 0.24 percent, Health 1.37 percent, Transportation
0.19 percent, Information, Communication and Financial Services 0.27
percent, Recreation, Sports and Culture 0.02 percent, and Personal Care
and Other Services 0.63 percent. Meanwhile, the Education and Food and
Beverage / Restaurant Provision group did not change.
• In August
2020 there was an increase in NTUP by 2.30 percent. This happened
because the average It increased by 2.38 percent, which was higher than
the average increase in the BPPBM index price which rose by 0.08
percent. The increase in NTUP was caused by the quite high increase in
NTUP in the Plantation sub-sector by 3.71. Meanwhile, the sub-sectors
that experienced a decline were Food Crops 0.42 percent, Horticulture
1.52 percent, Animal Husbandry 2.38 percent, Fisheries in General 0.73
percent, Capture Fisheries 1.11 percent, and Cultivation Fisheries 0.21
percent.
